The key function of the district council is the integrated management of the use, development, or protection of land and associated natural and physical resources of the district. The District Plan therefore seeks to manage and protect the natural and physical resources that are important to the community, and to ensure that environmental qualities and values are safeguarded for future generations to enjoy.</span></font></p>
